Chapter # 7: The Sequence of Tenses & The Conditional Tenses
The sequence of tenses refers to the correct relationship between verbs in different parts of a sentence, especially in reported speech and complex sentences. Conditional tenses are used to express possible, imaginary, or unreal situations using “if” clauses. These include zero, first, second, and third conditionals. Correct use of tense sequence and conditionals helps make sentences grammatically accurate and meaningful. In MDCAT English preparation, students study these rules to improve grammar, sentence correction, and error detection skills commonly tested in entry test MCQs.
