Chapter # 12: Clauses

A clause is a group of words that contains a subject and a verb and may or may not express a complete idea. Clauses are of two main types: independent clauses, which can stand alone as complete sentences, and dependent clauses, which cannot stand alone and depend on an independent clause for meaning. Clauses are important building blocks of sentences and help in forming complex and compound sentences.
