Chapter # 5: Wordiness
Wordiness refers to the use of unnecessary or extra words in a sentence that make the meaning unclear or lengthy. Good English writing should be clear, direct, and concise. Removing wordiness improves sentence quality and readability. For example, instead of saying “due to the fact that,” we can simply say “because.” In MDCAT English preparation, students learn to identify and correct wordy sentences to improve grammar, sentence correction skills, and accuracy in entry test MCQs.
